The Idea Net Setter device can work with SIM cards from mostly all Internet providers. However, if you choose to use a different SIM card for the device, you need to make the appropriate network settings for the new Internet provider. This settings can usually be acquired from the new provider. In this matter, I strongly recommend that you contact him in order to obtain more information about the network settings. This might be a reason why you receive the network error message.
Yes, you can use any 3G SIM card with Idea Net Setter because it is supported. However, you might need to get in contact with the support team who issued the SIM card. The Idea Net Setter requires settings from the carrier's network in order to work correctly.
I have Idea 3G Net Setter but it is not working in Windows 8. How can I make it work under Windows 8?

Your device's software is compatible with Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP2/SP3, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and MAC OS 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6 with the latest upgrades. I have seen many cases when Windows 8 does not install the device properly. I suggest you manually install it using the Device Manager. Right click the device marked in yellow in the Device Manager section and install the driver manually. Point installation window to the location where you have your software extracted. It's a setup file then you will need to install it in a compatible operating system and then copy the contents of the installation from that system to Windows 8.
Please insert the device into a USB port and then browse to My Computer and identify the newly added drive. Browse the device's storage and set compatibility to the setup application to Windows XP and install it. Next go to Device Manager, locate the device in the list and use Properties followed by Update Driver. Browse the installation window to the path where drivers are installed (C:\Program Files\Idea Netsetter) and select the INF file manually. Proceed for every item in the Device Manager then restart the computer and that's it. Because you don't have compatibility in Windows 7 for this device, you will need to take this manual way of installing.

In order to unlock Idea Net Setter, I suggest you use Google search engine to find video tutorials, guides and tips. Unfortunately, this will not guarantee that the speed will be increased because it depends on many factors. If you will still have problems, try running the TuneUp utility.
You can't increase the speed. The speed is influenced by two direct factors: the coverage area and the subscription method. In both cases, you should contact the issuer of the Idea Net Setter device. They will be able to diagnose this. Make sure that the firewall is turned off and there are no other security solutions installed that prevent the communication with Internet.
Right-click on Computer icon, select Manage and go to Device Manager. Double-click the Ports tab, select the Communication Port and press the Port Settings. Change the Bits per second value to 128000, Data Bits to 8, Stop Bits to 1, select Parity - None and Flow Control - Hardware. This should increase the speed, but you need to know that the speed is strongly influenced by the zone you're in, because you're using a wireless-enabled device.
You can't increase the speed of these devices. It all depends on the signal reception and the limits of the pre-paid SIM card or your contract. Even if you apply the "network tweaks", the speed will be the same. Of course, it will increase just a little through ports opening, TCP pipe, HTTP boost, etc. but it isn't worth the effort. However, you can use applications like TuneUP Utilities to tweak the network settings.
I can't play CDs or DVDs under Windows 7, if Net Setter is in use. Even CD/DVD icon is not displaying in My Computer. All registry entries have been checked and found alright. What can I do?
